Locked down and forgot to buy milk? Alpro has you covered
Of all the things that you were supposed to pick up in the supermarket, you forgot to get milk. It happens. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a back-up in your cupboard?
As most of us are spending more time in our homes, many of us have changed our eating and shopping habits too. We’ve all seen our coffee shops offering coconut, almond, soy and even oat milk for our white americano for some time now. But now, we may have another reason to give them a try. Because you can have a few in your kitchen press for emergencies!
Many of us have been enjoying these for years, but over the past year or so, more of us are also seeing the benefits of these delicious plant based (and delicious!) foods that are made from either non-GM soya, almonds, hazelnuts, cashew, rice, oats or coconut.Alpro has been the European pioneer of plant-based food for over 35 years, bringing us great choices of plant-based drinks, yoghurts, desserts, margarines and even ice cream! But Alpro is not just about convenience and taste. The company’s sustainability strategy is founded on the conviction that health, environment and business- economic interests go hand in hand. Alpro is the first Belgian company to participate in ‘One Planet Thinking’ program, which is a program developed by the
World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Alpro also published its sustainability report on recently. It outlines Alpro’s achievements and provides an evaluation of it’s sustainability goals set out for the period from 2015 to 2020. t Wasted, we love the explanation:
“Our earth can only replenish its resources to a limited extent, and at present human beings are taking so much from the planet that it cannot fully recover.”
Alpro’s sustainability manager, Greet Vanderheyden goes on to explain: “Our planet does not have an infinite supply of natural resources. That is why we at Alpro will be applying the ‘One Planet Thinking’ methodology by the end of 2018 to ensure that we reduce our footprint in an even more meaningful way. This year the focus is predominantly on the impact of growing soybeans and almonds, which are the main ingredients of our plant-based products.”Thank you Alpro. Keep that flag flying and keep those products coming. We can’t get enough right now!
