Time to look after ourselves. And Each Other.

There is no doubt about it. These are strange and challenging times.

I’m sure there are many of you out there right now feeling anxious, worried and maybe even a little scared.

These feelings are totally normally in a time like this, but they are emotions that we need to try to manage. It’s inevitable that we are going to encounter them over the coming days and weeks, but once we can acknowledge them, they become easier to deal with.

Because, this latest challenge and threat in the form of the Cononavirus is unfortunately something that is outside our control and that is what makes it difficult for us. We want to know what we can do to protect ourselves and our family as much as we can. That’s totally understandable.

But this is also something we can beat, if we continue to do as we are asked. We need to stay informed, but please, I urge you, to only listen to official announcements that come from the government or the HSE. (not your WhatsApp or Facebook posts). Please do as our government has asked of us and continue to restrict your movements wherever possible.

This is also a time for us to keep ourselves in our best physical shape, by eating as well as we can, continue to drink lots of water and be active in some way if we can (family yoga sessions on the morning? :))

Stress, anxiety and panic only lead to more of the same and they all have a negative impact on our physical as well as emotional being.

So, I would like to invite all of you to take this time to re-balance yourself. Spend some time playing with the kids, bake some buns, watch a family movie, read a good book. They all sound obvious, but once you start to slow down to do these things now, you may just develop a nice longer term habit!

Stay grounded and stay positive. Be kind to yourself and each other and be grateful for your family and friends. This is our opportunity to fully appreciate all the great things you have and knowing that there is plenty more to come.

Our next chapter will be along soon.

As always, please feel free to get in touch with me anytime on Facebook, Insta or by dropping me a mail to sinead@wasted.ie – i’d love to hear from you!

Until next time, look after yourself

Sinead Xx
