It’s been a while since I checked in…

I hope you are all doing well! If you are anything like me, the last few weeks have been full of mixed emotions.

When the lockdown started, it was very new to us, a novelty almost. We were all carrying some fear about contracting Coronavirus of course, but for most of us, the fear wasn’t about the virus itself. It was about the unknown territory that we were heading into.

Will we be able to cope financially, how will we talk to the kids and explain what’a happening and why they can’t go out and play with their friends? How long will this last? When will the schools re-open? So many questions that nobody really had an answer for.

But, as the weeks went by, we realized that we could cope, that really, the most important thing was that we were all safe and well. And that we could play our part in helping the world get through this together.

Because the one unusual thing about Covid-19 and all it has brought to our doors is that this is a global challenge. So, we washed our hands. Again. We reached out to neighbors that might have been struggling a little more than us.

We discovered that we really didn’t need all those clothes and that we could make a damn fine Pasta Carbonara (without cream!).

I spent a lot of time over the past few weeks taking up meditation again, finding out about new therapies and really arming myself with as many tools as I could to help myself and family adjust to this new routine.

I have worked with friends and experts to find out more about sleeping patterns, hormone issues, EFT therapy and so much more. I feel like I am just about ready to take on the world and help as many people as I can!

But mostly, I feel that, along with most people, I have re-discovered the simple things in life. Going for walks and actually noticing the flowers. Saying hello to people along the way. Wondering if the birds had always been that loud, or are we just hearing them for the first time.

So yes, our world has been turned all the way upside down and everyone has had their stressy moments. But can we also acknowledge that there has been some positives out of all of this?

Spending less money on stuff we didn’t really need. Cooking from scratch and realizing that you could. Experimenting with homemade face masks.

Explaining the rules of a 20-year-old game to your kids, because for once, they were actually getting bored with their screens (result!). Taking time to do nothing at all.

When we finally come out of our lockdown and start to re-enter our new world, let’s hope that we can bring some of these lovely new habits along with us.

Let’s do it together 🙂
Stay Safe. And don’t forget to take time to do nothing at all! 🙂
